Our Shame with Sackler

University Tel Aviv

• April 2019 The association 'Doctors for Human Rights' contacted Tel Aviv University for information on donations from the Sack hospitalL, according to the Freedom of Information Law. After repeated rejections, the association filed an administrative petition to obtain information, and received a short answer with very little information.

• In July 2019, the "Doctors for Human Rights" association addressed the staff of the Faculty of Medicine and the School of Medicine with the following request:"In light of the seriousness of the accusations, we ask that you remove the name of the family from your correspondence and your electronic signatures, in order to make it clear to the university administration and the Faculty of Medicine your disapproval of harming human life for - according to the publications and lawsuits - economic profits mighty." The request remains unanswered.

• In December 2020, the association 'Doctors for Human Rights' appealed to the president of the university with a request to re-examine the request in light of the accumulated accusations against the Sackler family and the decision of institutions abroad to remove the name of the Sackler family. The request remained unanswered.

Faculty of Medicine and School of Medicine

• GodStudents in the American program of the School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University worked to remove the name of the Sackler Hospital from the name of the program, and it was indeed removed in 2022. See:

  • The name Sackler was removed from the American program for medical studies in Tel Aviv, an article on the subject on the website of the Association of Public Health Physicians in Israel.

  • When Capitalism Kills: The Cautionary Story of the Sackler Family, an article by one of the leaders of the student struggle to remove the name Sackler from the American program.

• In April 2023, her request was sent to the dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, the Dean of the School of Medicine, and the Chairman of the Medical Student Association. to readclick here.​

The Medical Association in Israel

• In April 2023, a request was sent to the Israel Medical Association, the authorized body in Israel for the ethical code of doctors. A reply was received from the Chairman of the Ethics Bureau of the RA, according to which"The Bureau of Ethics has acted in the past and is working to clarify the issue".
